Mike Keane has a truly unique career at the forefront of electric vehicle development, having worked on over 45 vehicles programmes.
Formerly Head of Engineering for the Williams F1 Advanced Engineering division, he has led vehicle programmes for blue-chip companies such as Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar, Nissan, Liebherr; including the ground-braking hybrid Jaguar C-X75 and electric Nissan Bladeglider supercars.
He has developed road vehicles, HGV, LGV, industrial, off-highway, motorsport and public transportation vehicles; with electric, hybrid, internal combustion or hydrogen fuel cell platforms.
In 2022, he founded Hibra Design, a Cork-based specialist vehicle engineering development company.
Hibra Design is unique in the Irish market as the company provides its clients with a full spectrum of vehicle engineering services; from full ground-up, bespoke vehicle development, through to the re-engineering of existing vehicles with clean-technology powertrain systems.
In three years since its inception, the company has successfully secured programmes for public and private sector clients in Ireland, EU, Middle-East and South Africa; and already has been recognised with multiple industry awards including Business Post Electric Vehicle Pioneer of Year 2025; 2024 National Start-Up Product and Manufacturing Gold Award, and 2023 Enterprise Ireland’s One-To-Watch award.
In 2025, Hibra Design developed Ireland’s first operational electric tractor on commission for Bord Na Mona.
