Mike Keane has a truly unique career at the forefront of electric vehicle development.
He has spent over 2 decades in first-line automotive engineering with a demonstrated history of leading high-calibre automotive programmes, and over 12 years developing award-winning electric vehicles.
He has held Lead Technical responsibility on vehicle programmes for blue-chip companies such as Williams F1, Nissan, Aston Martin, Land Rover, Jaguar, Liebherr and Ford. Many of these programmes, such as the Jaguar C-X75 supercar, were the first forays into electrification for the manufacturer.
His extensive experience encompasses a range of use profiles: road, HGV, LGV, industrial, off-highway, motorsport and public transportation.
He has delivered innovative vehicles with electric, hybrid, internal combustion or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle platforms, driving the development of original and inventive technologies from blank-sheet through to production.
In 2022, Mike founded the Cork-based automotive engineering development company, Hibra Design. Hibra Design develops sustainable and bespoke vehicle solutions. They offer full vehicle development capability from blank-sheet design through to prototype build, with a focus on clean technology powertrain systems, particularly for industrial and commercial vehicles. A core part of their offering is working with fleet operators to reengineer existing vehicles from ICE to BEV power and this work has been recently featured on RTE’s ‘Heated’ TV programme.
