Trinity College Dublin represents a TRACT (TRAnsport Behaviour Change Trials) project funded by SEAI and DOT. It aims to achieve the targets mentioned in Ireland’s Climate Action Plan (CAP). It has two distinctive trials focusing on decarbonising the transport sector using CAP’s Avoid, Shift, and Improve management strategy. Accordingly, TRACT’s first trial encourages people to shift to Electric Vehicles (EVs). Several use cases are being examined to determine what factors would encourage them to switch/adopt EVs. This trial will identify the perceived barriers towards EV adoption and possible solutions, provide insights on the importance of the second-hand EV market, and formulate a tailored and integrated policy framework where the EV uptake has been slow. It is conducted with the help of the recently developed TRACT EV app. When installed by the users, this app will track the user’s travel distance, estimate weekly km travelled, and suggest their travel range requirements. Along with this, it will also provide their emission savings and fuel cost savings when shifted to EVs. The TRACT project targets more than 10k users to use the app with a trial period of more than a year. Feel free to download our app on our official TRACT website.
